Product Care
How to take care of your Ockadok products and get the best out of them.
Candles
-
On the first burn, let the wax melt right across to the edge of the jar. This helps the candle burn evenly each time you light it.
-
Trim the wick to around 5mm before each burn. If the flame gets too large or starts smoking, blow it out, let it cool and trim the wick before lighting it again.
Try not to burn your candle for more than 4 hours at a time.
-
Always place it on a flat, heat-resistant surface, away from draughts, children and pets. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
-
Stop using the candle when around 1cm of wax remains at the bottom of the jar.
Diffusers
-
Pop the reeds into the bottle and give them a few hours to soak up the fragrance. Then turn them over so the soaked ends are at the top.
-
You can turn the reeds every week or so if you want a stronger scent. Just be careful when doing this as the diffuser liquid can damage painted, polished or wooden surfaces.
-
Keep your diffuser away from direct sunlight and radiators, and somewhere it won’t easily be knocked over.
-
When using a refill, it’s worth replacing your old reeds too. Once they’ve been used for a while they can become clogged and won’t carry the scent as well.
-
The more reeds you use, the stronger the scent will be and the quicker the diffuser will be used up.
Wax Melts
-
Add a wax melt to the top of your burner and let it slowly melt to release the fragrance.
-
You can keep reheating the same wax until you can no longer smell it, then let it cool before removing and replacing it.
-
Never add water to the wax and never leave a lit burner unattended. Keep away from children and pets.
